Baking Soda: A 1 pound minimum per person is a good rule for storage. Baking soda is used for more than just baking. On the box you can find uses for odor control, fridge freshener, and even antacid. Baking soda is a also a very good scouring powder.
Tooth Powder: To make your own tooth powder: Mix 1 tsp salt and 5 tsp baking soda. Add 6-9 drops peppermint or wintergreen and mix well. Label and keep in a tightly fitting jar. To use, pour a small amount into the palm of your hand, then wet toothbrush and rub bristles into the powder.
Mouthwash: Dissolve 2 tsp salt and 2 tsp baking soda into 1 quart boiling water. Add 10 drops of oil of peppermint, wintergreen or cloves. Label and keep in a covered jar. To use, rinse out mouth and gargle with a small amount as often as desired.
Challenge and Family Home Evening Activities: Work as a family to plan, prepare, and plant a garden. You may realize that you are not just growing a garden but growing in family traditions. Your obedience to the Prophets counsel will produce a bounty of blessings in your life.
